Apartment Needs
Once you decide on the budget and the location, you should also be considering what other things you would like to have in your rental apartment. Make a list of things that you will want to find in your new apartment. Following are some points that you might want to consider before taking up an apartment.Think about how many people will be living with you. If you are single or living with a partner then will a studio or loft would suffice for both of your needs. Or if there are many more members living with you, you might want a 2, 3, or more bedroom apartment. How many bathrooms would be required? If you have kids as well as friends visit you frequently you might want to have a third bathroom.
Think about the kitchen area. Would you like to have a larger kitchen area or do you like eat-in kitchen? You might also want to think about if you would require extra room for office, play area, entertainment area, etc.
Figure out how much stuff you have to bring over to the new apartment. Would you be requiring storage lockers? Or if you own furniture would you need to rent additional furniture. If you have to rent furnitures would it be better to go for a furnished apartment instead? How many cars do you have? Would you need a secure parking facility for them?
Do you have pets, if so then you must restrain yourself to pet friendly apartments alone? Do you have allergies to certain trees or plants or animals? If so it would be wise not to take up the place that has those things around. For example, if you are allergic to pollens, it would not be a wise idea to stay close to a place that has lots of flowers growing around.
Would you like or need outdoor space, like deck, patio, or yard area? If so would you like to share it with other tenants or need it exclusive to yourself? What floor would you prefer stay? Are you particular about a certain view from your window or balcony?
Do you prefer to have recreational or fitness facilities in the apartment like the swimming pool, gym, tennis court? Or is it oaky if these are available at places close by the rental apartment.
Do you need senior citizen friendly apartments, like accessible bathing and toilet facilities, and reachable counter heights in the kitchen or in the bathroom, rails in the hallway for elderly or disabled people?
If the answer is yes to most of the question, enquire how much extra do one have to pay for these facilities. Ask yourself can you afford all of them or just a few would be absolute necessary. Because with facilities comes a price as well. Make sure the expenses on the rental apartment come to not more than 30% of your total take away income. Be realistic when you make the choices, it will keep you focused in your search.
